My first London group show brings together an artist collective under the setting of a new South London gallery space. The exhibition titled ‘Absence’ is inspired by Lewin St Cyr’s works of the same name, his panoramic visions of empty London void of people is haunting and surreal. Hermione Hodgson’s large scale piece ‘Snowmist’ highlighting figures amidst a snowy landscape is both stunning and alluring. And Will Anderson’s selection of prints taken from his new book, ‘Death in a Good District’ brings to life his grandmother’s poem of beautifully deconstructive images. My work in this show is to present and open a conversation/dialogue in response to these artist's works. My work especially deals with the recollection of trauma and memories associated with childhood experience by ways of manipulating image and text. All three are practicing photographers in their field and it's an honour to have them all be part of this group show and a great chance to encounter and view their works collectively for the first time!
During the evening a soundscape will be performed and recorded and subsequently played back during the show’s residence by special guests slim & jonny5.
